I visited Black Fleet brewing a few weeks back while in Tacoma. When I visited they had 11 taps on, with a decent mix of styles - two IPAs, a red, a dunkelweizen, a porter, two pale ales, a Cascadian dark ale, a sour, a cherry blossom wheat, and a milk stout. Nothing crazy, but there're some interesting styles in the mix there. The Vengeance IPA was okay, and though the dunkelweizen was not groundbreaking, I was pleased to see they had one.

The taproom is industrial but polished and welcoming, with good music and a nice vibe. The brewhouse shares the space with the taproom, which I always love; sitting at the bar you can see all the equipment. Service at the bar was quick and friendly. I had the pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw, which was tasty and really hit the spot for me.

this place is neat, another very cool staple in the local tacoma scene, which is incredibly robust at the moment! close to a bunch of other breweries so easy to add to a walking tour, its a standalone building with sort of an old mechanics garage feel to it, nothing remarkable from the outside, but nicely laid out once you go in, with some tables spread out up front, a more private booth area, with the bar across the back in front of the tanks. their might be some upstairs space too, a big staircase is there, but we didnt explore much, just found a booth and posted up. it was kind of service by committee which was nice, someone took the order quickly, answered a few questions, someone else brought the beers, a third person hooked up a couple of free samples unsolicited, i like this method and it made is feel immediately welcome and valued. they had a solid selection of beers on tap, including a couple of pretty ambitious choices. for me, the smoked red was far and away the best one we tried, i loved it, and could have blasted several pints, hearty and autumnal and complex, deeply earthy, just delicious. i was less stoked on an oktoberfest ipa style hybrid and their pale ale, but nothing was bad or off or weird, and i think these guys are doing a pretty nice job overall. the space is fun, the energy is relaxed, and the beer is good. they had a somewhat generic looking food menu too here, but we did not eat or even really lay eyes on any food going out, but maybe next time. definitely an enjoyable stop!
