Had Foggy Mountain Haze poured from pint can, hand-filled at the Hix Farm Tap Room, Cookeville, Tenn., into nonic pint.
Pours deep murky orange with 1/2- to 1-finger creamy off-white head, with good retention, leaving some splotchy lace. Aromas of of tangerine, mild hop resin and spices (nutmeg?) off pour, then stone fruits take over. Begins with peach and tangerine, over smooth mild malt, all carrying into a generically fruity, a bit acidic, rather sweet yet still crisp finish.
This is an unusual orange, spicy, fruity IPA. Rather a fruited IPA without the fruit.
