Drank many of it in 30 cl bottles, it's just a lovely pint. Whenever it's lower priced from time to time i get two crates. Forget all those watery tasting pints, when you want something refreshing while tasty: you cannot go wrong with Alfa!

It's a German style pint and that can't be a coincidence since Schinnen where it's brewed, is very close to Germany. This beer is even better than most excellent Germans and i've tasted many since i am a longtime fan.

Alfa Edel pils is one of the best Dutch pints out there, if not thé best! Edel is Dutch for noble and this beer certain fits the bill! Matter of fact: i'm gonna grab me another!

Can 0,5 l

A - One finger white head, lasting couple of seconds. Pale golden with huge carbonation.
S - Cheap light malt, metal and skunk aroma, not good.
T/M - A bit watery, but not too much, pale malt, bitter aftertaste..

O - Maybe a one step better classic industrial pale lager.

Look: Golden, medium foam, good cling.
Smell: Fresh malt and hops.
Taste: Not to strong. Fresh malt with low presence of hops. Because of this, the bitterness is moderated, but what is there, is just enough to give the beer a perfect balance.
After Taste: Thin and watery, but that is normal for the style. Carbonation is medium-high and very drinkable.

A nice pilsener. Light golden look to it. A fresh smell that equals the fresh taste you expect from a pilsener. A good little bitterness in the taste. Mouthfeel is light and decent. Overall a good pilsener.

Sent to me in the mail by my friend Hein from Holland. A decent pils that is light and refreshing. The hops notes are grassy but not as pronouced as Grolsch. I enjoyed the beer though admit that other euro lagers have more complexity and depth. The dry finish does however make it food friendly and thirst quenching.

33cl Bottle: best before Apr 2013, poured into a 'La Chouffe' tulip on 3rd Nov 2012, the first beer in a random tasting evening.

Usual golden pilsner/lager look: bright and clean.

The nose and taste were on the malty side compared to most tasteless/mini-hoppy flavoured beers of this style. I quietly enjoyed this, which for me to say about a pilsner (drank at home) is very unusual indeed.

The malt flavours stayed thoughout the tasting and the body held the alcohol and hop bitterness nicely together which produced a pleasant dry finish.

Bottle of 300 ml, at home. I've had it quite a few times, now I realized I haven't reviewed it.
Light golden colour, with two fingers of white head, average activity in the glass. Head goes off fast, leaving no lacing.
Malted grains on the aroma and on the taste too. Medium bitterness. Thin body and light carbonation. Easily drinkable but if I couldn't find it for some reason, it wouldn't be a big deal.

Pours pale, straw yellow, with creamy head, a small amount of lacing in the glass.Surprising fresh smell of malt, yeast, grassy hops, like pils. Taste is similar, but a bit faint. Mouthfeel is thin, watery. Very drinkable and cheap.

Dutch brewed lager, a pint in a can.

Looks ok: straw yellow, with a nice creamy head, a bit of lacing in the glass.
Surprizing fresh smell. Malts, yeast, grassy hops, like normal lager pils, but it has the freshness some of the others seem to lack sometimes.
Taste is similar, but a bit faint.
Mouthfeel is thin, watery.
Easy drinkable lager. And cheap.

Bought this beer in the supermarket. Poured into a Grolsch glass. The beer pours a yellow-straw color, with a nice white head.

Smell: typical pilsner smell: malt and hops

Taste: Not to strong. Nice and malty, with very low presence of hops. Because of this, the bitterness is almost absent, but what is there, is just enough to give the beer a perfect balance.

Mouthfeel: thin and watery, but that is normal for the style. Carbonation is medium-high

Overall: I will rate this one, compared to other pilsner beers because of course it will never beat any of the special beers out there. But for a regular pilsner, it is extremely drinkable. The taste is soft (somewhat weak) but man, this one goes down easy!

50cl can from trader Joe's, poured into frosted mug...accompaneid with ad hoc turkey tacos

appearance: just the right golden colour for a pilsner. also had typical pils head

smell: typical pils = matl mixed with hops

taste: not the most flavourful, and the hops are not overpowering - leaving it nice and cripsy

mouthfeel: leaves mouth a bit dry and finish is slightly junky, also a bit thin, though this is appropriate to the style

drinkability: not enough flavour for a session beer, but otherwise unoffensive and pretty smooth

verdict: out of trader joe's selection, this is a good throwback beer with less flavour (especially of hops) than their other pilsner offerings (namely CzechBrou and Starobrno)...and being a tall can, it is a good value for a buck a pop.

This is a light but tasty, somewhat unique pilsner-type.

Pale straw - definitely on the pale side for the style - it has a huge white head that slowly shrinks and leaves some even rings of foamy lace.

The aroma is nice grass, herbs, a lot of grain, and hints of pear.

The taste is tart, tangy apple, grain, grass, with the grain soon fading to a very weak background element, leaving it dominated by apple, lemon, and hints of herbs and grass. It is lightly sweet with a light, dominant lemony bitterness that controls the finish, leaving a long apple-lemon aftertaste. It has an unusually soft feel and the feel and taste are a little unique. It definitely gets points for being somewhat different.

Pours a clear golden straw color with light head and retention. Smell is of light sweet malts and with a typical Noble hop presence. Offers some grassy herbal notes when shaken up a bit, but it settles back rather quickly.

Taste offers some balanced maltiness up front with a decent finish. Not too sweet and slightly viscous in texture, yet somewhat bland overall on the tongue with a rather light carbonation.

Light bodied Pils on the feel with a decent drinkability.

Note: 5.0% ABV per label..

Another new offering from Trader Joe's. How could I resist after trying so many unimpressive singles from their beer shelves?

Appearance: This one pours a light gold with a large foamy white head that rescinds and eventually disappears by the halfway point.

Smell: The nose is not the best ambassador for the beer. There's a average blend of pilsener malts and grassy saaz hops.

Taste: The flavor profile is malt-forward with soft, semi-sweet pale malts. There is an interesting minor creamy note in the, sort of like Boddingtons, in the mid-palate. Grassy malts pick up steam towards the end for a slightly bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: The body is light, nearing medium, with soft carbonation.

Drinkability: This is unexpectedly tasty. It's far from thought provoking, but it's a nice, quaffable lager.

This is a very full-bodied beer, with more body than the average pilsner from Holland. This also makes me drink it at a bit slower speed than other pilsners. There is something malty and different in taste, something buttery or creamy, but I am not able to point out the taste.
Unlike the other review below, I think this is a pretty good beer for the style.

Very smooth for a pilsner must be the water from the natural spring unlike some brews that use water from unnatural springs - okay its certified water with a unique bottle number. This pilsner pours with a slight head and leaving little lace. Nose is not distinguishable and taste is more malts than hops giving it a sweetish flavor with a slightly bitter finish. Light bodied. 300ml bottle. The ABV is 5.0%.

Pretty nice i think, very nice to drink a lot of, quite a nice malty character, a bit sweet at the start and moderate bitterness, very nice actually, great for session drinking.
