This was the twenty-third and by the far the most unexpected finds of the All Together that I was able to get my hands on. In addition, this was the first beer that I've reviewed from Montclair Brewery. They've been around since 2014 but I've never seen any of their offerings anywhere until I went to the Amanti Vino in the same town where this was brewed. That was yesterday and even though this wasn't dated, this felt recently brewed as it was fresh, lively, and easily enjoyable!
Interesting pour to this as the liquid was uniformly translucent and brassy without any haze or sediment in it. The head was sufficient, but not long-lasting, as the suds left behind were scant and concentrated near the top. Lots of body to this as the oats and malt really shone through in the taste with this *almost* not feeling like an IPA. That was because of the taste and although it was crisp and clean, there were hints of tropical fruit and dank hops with a nice, turbid deep forest underneath that as that emerged strongly in the aftertaste. A bit of earthy hops, white chocolate, and dank vegetables were easily felt on the palate with melon and cantaloupe pith and heavy grapefruit entering the fray as well. Nicely slick and nearly missing all carbonation, this was not like other beers in the series that I've had but as it was both different and new at the same time.
The booze was the same as the typical Other Half but the carbonation was nearly nowhere to be seen. Lightly slick and somewhat earthy, the flavors lingered for a while as this didn't last long in my pint glass as it left me wanting more. No date on the bottom of the can but Instagram indicated that this was brewed recently as it left that impression on me. This was a lovely beer that has me interested in the brewery just down Bloomfield Avenue!
