Octodog Apocalypse "Squid Ink Stout" by Bad Dog Brewing Company (Sooke BC)
It came in one of those tall 473ml cans. Some weird art work on the can. (I got a picture of it here if I can figure out how to upload it.) It pours out pretty decently with the usual sort of foam you get with these kinda beers. The foam recedes fairly quickly. It's very dark in colour, holding my glass up to the light, it stays dark. Very little light passes through and where it does the colour is reddish brown. They call it a "squid ink stout" on account of this cuttlefish ink they put in it. There is even a warning for seafood allergies on account of it. (Is it cheating to put ink in your dark beer?) I'm not sure how I feel about this.
My first few sips tasted kinda weird to me, and I wasn't sure if it was because of the ink or whatever. I might have been just psyching myself out. After that it was fine. A pretty dry finish, it leaves a slightly sweet aftertaste. Overall it's not too bad of a beer if you like these dark Irish styles. I appreciate that it's only 4.8% alc.
I might buy this again if my first choices aren't available. (Murphy's or Steam Works Nitro Stout.) It's not a bad effort by Bad Dog Brewing, but I probably won't go looking for it again.

Bad Dog Brewing 'Octodog Apocalypse' @ 4.8% , served from a 473 ml can
A-pour is cola brown from the can to a black in the glass with a medium tan head leaving a spotty lace along the pint
S-some roasted malts
T-cuttle fish ink stout
MF-ok carbonation , medium body , very dry finish
Ov-not sure if I'd try again
