i respect any brewery packing more than one pils type, so good on these guys, seems like they have a pretty heavy lean toward the german stuff, and appear to be doing all of it very well, cans look sharp too. this is crisp and fast and very good, although a bit short of fully traditional, like im not sure we have a decoction mash at play, but the ingredient parts are right it seems to me. the beer is pale yellow and very frothy from the can with rapid carbonation, looks the part. the grain is real fresh in the nose and taste, loosely european, and they seem to have the water chemistry pretty dialed in as well, this has good minerality though it, a sort of naturally derived drying tendency about it, and body from more than just the malt, even though this is light overall. i would not rank it among the hoppy pilseners, its mellow on the back end, not much more than some bittering hops to help it conclude. the fermentation is a real success here, it’s a classic strain i reckon, but is kept minimal in flavor while being allowed to take this near absolutely dry, so its refreshing to drink even beyond what we normally get in the style, the effervescence also helps with that. maybe not the most distinctive pils in the world, but the quality is certainly there. my very first from these guys, i will be on the lookout for more next time i am back in wyoming, this was quite impressive overall. simple but good.

Howler bought at Liquor Shed. $7
It pours a clear gold with a nice head of foam, does well with the lacing.
The smell has some hoppy goodness, I wouldn't say that it is Saaz like, that's disappointing. Some bready malt, though it doesn't seem to have the Czech character that I dig in the one and only Pilsner Urquell, it isn't bad.
The taste is balanced, just as sweet as it is bitter. The finish does lean towards the hoppy bitter side but that's a bit too late for me for a beer that claims to be a Czech Pilsner.
Mouthfeel is medium though I reckon that it could use more carbonation.
Not a bad attempt by a new brewery in Casper but I hope that they dial things in for the beers that they brew, else they will not survive.
