Single from Whole Foods. New Belgium goblet.
Dark brown with red hues. Syrupy. Lingering lace.
Sticky malt nose. Christmas spice. Coffee.
Well spiced, solid bitterness, burnt caramel, too sweet. Lingering tea. Oxidized peanut.
Big, burning carbonation drops off really fast. Booze creeps in as it warms.
Meh.

Look: It pours clear and brown with a tan head. Head retention is good.
Smell: It has strong chai spices up front in the aroma.
Taste: There are chai flavors up front with very low roast and other spice.
Feel: It has a medium body with spicy bitterness in the finish.
Overall, the spices override the brown ale in such a way that I would say this fits more in spice, herb, or vegetable than brown ale. As a spiced beer, I like it. As a brown ale I don't get enough of the brown ale qualities.
