Poured from a 16oz can into a pilsner glass. Dark black with deep brown at the edges in the light. Appreciable dark khaki-colored head. Smell is dark and roasty with a note of char. Taste is surprisingly strong, with a char-type bitterness that lingers, but I don't mind it at all. Feel isn't heavy, but isn't insubstantial, either. Goes down smooth. Good beer.

 

Dark brown with one finger light tan head. Very pruney on the nose, with tootsie roll, caramel, coffee. The flavor is interesting, there's the chocolate, caramel, and coffee from the nose, but a strong unexpected flavor distinguishes it, sort of medicinal and licoricey but I can't place it.

Black in color with moderate amounts of light seeping through when held up to light. There’s a fingernail of brown around the rim and covering two thirds of the top. The aroma is of dark, slightly sweet and faintly syrupy, bready malt. I’m tasting moderately sweet, dark, lightly caramel, and bready malt. The mouth is approachable and easygoing.

 

16oz can at Pizza Tree. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of roasted malt, chocolate and toffee. Nice roasted malt taste with hints of chocolate.
