Foeder Fest is our interpretation of a German festbier, the paler and drier younger sibling of Märzen. We combined some of our favorite Pilsner, Munich, and Vienna malts to create a complex bready structure before hopping it with Hersbrucker, Tradition, and Mittelfrueh for a festively floral tone and a polite, balanced bitterness. We then lagered it Missouri white oak for 2 months before packaging, which imparted a delicate vanilla and spice and rounded out all the corners for maximum drinkability. This is one to be consumed in quantity. Prost!

Poured from a 16-ounce can into a heavy glass tumbler. Amber colored body, with a thick white head that settled rather rapidly into a thin ring. Now, I'm not big on drinking large quantities of anything, but I could see putting away a bootful of this stuff in short order. Malty, grassy, floral, funky, and slightly sweet, with a full body, pleasant bitterness, and a peppery and oaky finish. Oh, and it's insanely drinkable. Indeed, the brewer says, "This is one to be consumed in quantity." Alrighty, then. What else is there to say, except "Prost!"

From a sixteen ounce aluminum can, this brew is a pale amber-yellow color. The head is thin and white. The aroma has a bit of bread crust and caramel, but not quite as intense as other fest beers. The taste is balanced, but it has a notable malt flavor. This brew is approachable and very drinkable. Nice.

On draft. Poured out a clear, burgundy color with golden highlights and a small, off-white head of foam. It left minimal lace. It smelled of caramel, toffee and maltiness. Sweet caramel malt taste with mild bitterness and a touch of toffee. Crisp and sharp.
