Presentation: Draft, served in a tulip glass.
Appearance: The thin, half finger head goes away pretty quickly and leaves a small amount of lacing. It's a hazy, opaque gold color.
Smell: The strong tuber, cassava scent masks everything else on the nose.
Taste: There's no hops or bitterness whatsoever which is unusual for something labeled an "IPA". There's just a starchy, grainy flavor, presumably from the cassava just like on the aroma.
Mouthfeel: It's smooth, creamy and medium bodied with medium-low carbonation.
Overall: Cassava might just not be the best beer ingredient. It takes over the smell and taste leaving room for nothing else. This is an IPA in name only since none of the cues from the style are present. While the idea of paying homage to the traditional Amerindian "kasiri" beverage is nice on paper, it just doesn't translate well into a modern beer, much less an IPA.
