Medium-bodied, dry-finishing Irish-style Stout. This beer has notes of roasted coffee to warm up cooler days, and smooth drinkability to wash down summer nights.

On draught at the brewery.
Pours a very dark black amber with a decent light tan head that dissipates early, but leaves some decent lacing. The body is medium.
A solid dry Irish Stout, smooth toasted barley malt flavor with coffee and cocoa notes, a hint of molasses. A pleasant dry finish.

A brace of draught pints at the James Joyce here in Baltimore: This may make me a heretic, but I like this more than Guinness. Coffee & chocolate in a...stout? -bodied easy-drinking ale.

Black with a tan head, poor retention, spotty lace
Dark chocolate, licorice, and dark fruit aroma
Tastes like it smells, a little bit of burnt bread as well
Medium bodied with low carbonation
Not my favorite

A super drinkable dry Irish style stout.
This has quickly become one of my favorites.
Tasty enough to know it's a stout, but quaffable enough to drink by the pool.
Easy drinker, smooth and balanced.

Appearance: Solid black with a large tan head and good lacing.
Aroma: Roasted malts with notes of coffee, bittersweet chocolate, tobacco and leather.
Taste: Familiar notes passed on from the aroma especially the roasted grains.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied and moderately carbonated with dry finish.
Overall: Fits the style very well. Exceeded my expectations.

12 oz can
pours black in color with off-white colored head. roasted malt aroma, coffee notes. taste is spot on flavor for the style - not too dry, good roast level, not too acidic. medium bodied, shorter finish.

Appearance:
Pours a handsome ebony and proffers an ample khaki head.
Bouquet:
Toasted malts, fresh bread, a dapple of cold brew coffee.
Taste:
It's very shy while its cold, so at first, it comes across like a boring, no-name stout; hiding away the special qualities which extol its true character. So pour it into your favorite snifter, set it aside, and go light the fire place. Given 15 minutes of breathing room, a subtle assortment of manly flavors are revealed: dark roasted malts, sharp, bitter chocolate, and a woodsy smoke that drifts on by at the end.
Feel:
A robust medium body, never feels watery or thin---yes, I'm looking at you, Guinness Draft. 1623's Dry Irish is a stout that's very, well... for lack of a better word: stout!

This is a really solid Irish Dry Stout. Not at all watery and there is a ton of flavor: dark roasted malts, bitter chocolate, coffee, and maybe a hint of smoky oak.
