Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Superficially black, but held to a halogen it's a very deep ruby-red. Appears filtered, and pours with a 2mm pale tan foam cap. ps @ +10mins, holds well; impressive for a beer of this ABV%.
S- Immediately smells wonderfully liquory. My nose is on a funk this week and registers no more of what doubtless if there.
T- Boooo...ooo [slow>mo]...ooom! It's like a long and elegant slow-ride from the rim of the glass into the bowels of a liquor barrel. This *surely* is aged in liquor barrels! It's deeply malty too. Then the liquor and hops seem to conspire to give a dry/bright zing into the finish.
F- Big, deep, liquory... majorly pungent with rich molasses notes coming in big-time. Despite all of that it's polished and elegant.
O- Wow, this is quite a show-stopper of a beer. Very nicely put together, nothing out of place/balance. It would be ideal for slow-sipping in winter. You might call this a statement beer, it makes one for sure. Something special, a 'bit of a treat beer' for me, that I'd happily drink again.
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the lables to see what I missed! ==> Barleywine. Small batch & vegan.
440ml can BB: April 2022. Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
