on tap at their tacoma spot, a tasty belgian pale ale with raspberries, subtle on the belgian yeast to me, and mellow on the hops too, the berries really pop in this as a result. a well made but perhaps safe brew here. hazy and a little pink, doesnt look as well refined as it could, and it lacks that huge puffy belgian head i want, but its lively when i drink it. the berries make the nose a little tart, but also bring some jammy sweetness, very summery. light citrus from the hops is real compatible too, the yeast is minimal in the aroma. the flavor is more balanced with some light white wine and white pepper esters in the yeast, a little bit of hop bitterness late, and a drier than it smells fruit profile. the berries are definitely natural, even kind of seedy, super ripe, and not dosed high enough to run over this relatively delicate pale base beer. you dont see a ton of belgian pale types with fruit, so i appreciate the offering, but i think the yeast and the hops could both be more robust in the flavor mix here, especially since the beer already isnt all that light, sort of weighty for no reason in texture. in the end this is fun and summery, but could stand some cleaning up and more attention to detail, but this one is full of promise.
