From a wax topped 650 ml bottle released by the brewery in December 16, 2022. Sampled Dec. 17, 2022.
The appearance is what one might expect with a blackberry infused barleywine with amber brown and a lot of red hues when held to the light. Quick lived fizzy tan head.
The aroma is overwhelmed by the blackberry barrel aging. I mean, I get blackberries galore in the nose and those usurp the traditional crackery bread characters and booze notes of a barleywine.
The mouthfeel is low-medium.
The taste is more about the blackberry and fruity characters as opposed to the sweet malty and sometimes boozy characters of a traditional barleywine. Although the booze expresses itself more in the taste that in the aroma. Not as warming as other barleywines but I get some of that after a few sips. The booze does creep up on me later.
Happy anniversary to To Share Brewing of N.H.
