Using a unique blend of time and temperature, the roasting technique of flux coffee preserves the delicate flavors naturally found in the beans. This Ethiopian Honey milled coffee with notes of blueberry and jasmine is further exploited by using real blueberries.

A true coffee stout with rich coffee, cola nut and underlying fruity & floral aromatics. Mouthcoating bubbly sharpness of bitter espresso & cacao subside for smooth dark chocolate and coffee warmth. Backend notes of chocolate covered Blueberries and blueberry bourbon jam become more pronounced as it warms.

Canned 03/04/20, it pours motor oil black color with a 3 finger thick foamy brown colored head that was packed with tiny bubbles, dissipating very slowly and leaving minimal spotty lacing and sediment all over the glass. It looks like a shake after it goes down.

Smells of dark chocolate, cocoa powder, ash, burnt coffee grinds, roasted nuts, dark fruit, espresso beans, peat moss, faint blueberries and some earthy notes. Complex, but everything blends together well so no aroma is dominant.

Tastes like it smells with plenty of dark chocolate, dark fruit, cocoa powder, ash, chocolate syrup, burnt coffee grinds, roasted nuts, espresso beans, peat moss, faint blueberries, a hint of vanilla sweetness, soy sauce and some earthy notes. There’s some alcohol burn along with a coffee bitterness that negates any chocolatey sweetness. This is thick with a chewy feel that goes down way easier than expected considering the 16% ABV. A really enjoyable stout.

Pours black as the void with chcolate colored head.

Smell is roasty and a bit sweet with huge notes of coffee and coffee grounds and a hint of hazelnut.

Taste is huge and intense, with a ton of roasted coffee notes and a bit of booze. Some chocolate and chocolate truffle appear with some warmth, as does a slight nuttiness. Fairly strong bitterness.

Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with good carbonation.

Overall, a really nice stout that excels at hiding it's ABV.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a half finger, fizzy, brown head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted and biscuit malt, cocoa, coffee, bourbon and a mild fruit note; a little boozy. Flavor is dark toasted and dry biscuit malt, dark chocolate, quality coffee and a bare hint of blueberry. Rich chocolate, malt and coffee finish. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess, silky mouth feel. Great richness and depth to this big imperial stout. The coffee is a clear note and tastes like a rich, slow brewed one. Chocolate character is great. The one surprise is the blueberry, which is a faint flavor, but perhaps because the others are quite dense. I'm not a huge fan of lots of fruit in my stouts, so this was a quality that fit my palate. I expect a great stout from these guys and they keep delivering them, very enjoyable. ABV dangerously well covered; drinks like a much smaller stout.

Wow....if you like dark roast gourmet coffee, get your hands on this. Glad I got 2 and will be hunting more.
Nose and mouth are chock full of a really nice dark roast coffee and bitter sweet dark chocolate. The super high AVB is very well hidden and if anything compliments the brew.
I loved this stout and highly recommend to any imperial coffee lover. Great job Nightmare!!

Really what an imperial stout should be. Nice and thick body, thick mocha head. Don't get a lot of blueberry, which I appreciate. I don't like overpower fruit in beers. Surprisingly smooth for this high of abv. Really glad I picked I picked it up

A- 16oz can poured into an 8oz becher with a dark as can be pitch black body and pretty much same for the extremely dark cocoa colored crown. The head reaches a finger high and has good retention and a foamy yet sturdy texture. Lacing begins with small webs and rare spots beneath the first few sips.

S- For my nose the aroma is mostly the intense, charred grains and the coffee. The malts on the whole give aromas of bitter roast barley, very dark chocolate, cocoa powder, toasted nuts and what seems like a moderate sweetness. Hints of dark fruits but nothing quite blueberry. Intense dark roast espresso beans.

T- It is a big boy for sure but the ABV is really well hidden for the 16% and it is not cloying and sweet as the grains, slight booze and bitterness balance out that effect. Dark, dark barley all the way with burnt, cocoa nib, dark chocolate bar, caramel, toasted nuttiness and a slightly acrid bitterness in the finish. Intense ala French roast coffee flavor in the finish.

MF- Thick bodied with a slick and very heavy feel on the palate. The carbonation is on the high side and it has a very intense bitterness from the roasted grains in the finish as well as a slight warming from the ABV.

The roast grain ratio in here is very intense with a ton of dark charred barley notes to compliment the espresso. The coffee kind of wears off but the base stout has a nice flavor profile and for the ABV it is very much drinkable.

Pours a thick, heavy looking dark brown. Two fingers of the darkest head I've ever seen. Darker than The Void and Founders Imperial. My word. Tiny, very tightly packed bubbles. Slight lacing. Medium retention. A great looking brew.

Nose is huge roasty coffee, smoky malt, and a hint of bakers chocolate.

Taste is similar. Coffee, malt, and chocolate. After the coffee fades, the malt character brings this flavor reminiscent of a well done pretzel. I'm not getting any of that supposed blueberry anywhere. Perhaps it contributes to the overall sweetness in a more subtle and oblique way, but the flavor profile is just not showing up for me.

Mouthfeel is silky smooth. Fullbodied with mild carbonation. Highly drinkable.

Overall, this is a knockout from Nightmare. Simple, but very enjoyable. Dangerous at 16%. The coffee really enhances the base stout and wraps the whole package up nicely.

From the tall boy can in a snifter. This new to me brewery pours
a deep used motor oil black with a very nice head of brown foam that
settles to a thick ring, thin layer, and displays some nice lacing. Nose
of sweet dark berry notes (blue and black berry), dark chocolate, and
nice touches of dark roasted coffee. Flavors Knock it out of the park
with rich blueberry, and exquisite dark coffee, with rich bakers chocolate,
and very nice touches of char and brulee. Excellent mouth feel
for such a beefy brew----smooth, subtly warming, rich, light
carbonation that is just enough to give needed lift, and a
rich full char and roast laden finish with blueberry
touches. Overall, a fantastic brew worthy of trying
and beyond that one that DESERVES to not
only be tried, but savored.

Excellent....a new Clown Shoes style brewery
is in the house!

Big rich and bold brews, can't wait
to try some more of their offerings!
