The CANQuest (tm) knows and has no boundaries! I found a guy in China (!) who now ships me CANs & this is one from the haul.

From the CAN: "Brewed in accordance with the German Purity Law"; "Traditionelle Deutsche Rezepte".

You know what would be really cool? Put a schwarzes frau on the label, vice the sandy-blonde/light-brunette!

I CANnot wait to CANduct a Crack! & inverted Glug! I love what came in the mail from China! This one is for Eric CANderson and his LAMFmobile. Chinese Rocks, dude!

Man, this was like the Maoist uprising! The Gang of Four kicked in my door, bringing two-plus fingers of dense, deep-tan/light-brown head with them. Color was Dark Brown to Very Dark Brown (SRM = > 27, < 34) with NE-quality clarity & garnet highlights. My highlight was making my rifle rack & opening up on the CANmunist punks! Do NOT invade a veteran's home & hope to tell the tale. Nose had a mild smokiness along with a slight dark chocolatiness. My living room smelt of burnt gunpowder, cordite, cosmoline & that coppery smell of fresh blood, plus fecal matter as one of them let go before buying it! Mouthfeel was medium. I put my sweet lips & mouth a little closer to the phone & called in the fuzz. I was slow, because the neighbors beat me to the punch! Good thing the door was already kicked in or that might have slowed them down. I am well-versed in assuming the position, having been trained as a cop from 1987 to 1989 & my rifle was now well out of reach. The taste was lightly smoky, mildly chocolaty and quite tasty. Again, very easy to drink. I tasted blood in my mouth as one of the piggies kicked me and my shiny false tooth let go. That was easy. Ah, it ain't easy being a self-professed anarchist. Amazingly, they let me finish this wonderful beer even as they were slapping (as we were trained NEVER to do - it CAN break the perp's (I mean, suspect's) wrists) the bracelets on me. I knew that I was finished, but the beer finished semi-dry and lingered with a smokiness that I CAN totally get behind. Spring me on bail & let's do this again.

Poured black with some dark red highlights; a creamy tan head and some sticky lace left on the glass; good head retention. Nice roasty malt notes on the nose, with a hint of coffee. Went in quite mellow on the front end with a bit of smooth choco/licorice funk; the backend was mixed with a balance of roasted barley, hay, lite cocoa, and semi-sweet chocolate. Fairly lite and mellow body; body on the lighter side of moderate; crisp. Hits the spot when you're in the mood for a dark beer that has the feeling of a porter or stout, but in fact it's a lager. Nice beer to drink at the end of summer/beginning of fall. Quite pleased with this one.
