Cabin's second of of their anniversary brews.
Poured to commemorate Robbie Burn's day.
Appearance - Pours a warm chestnut with two fingers of bubbly chestnut head.
Smell - scotch barrel, peat, honey, smokiness from the barrel, dark fruits (plum, fig, raisin), earthy and leafy hops. earthy, leafy, and floral hops, sweet biscuity malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - scotch barrel, peat, honey, and smoky notes up front. The earthy, leafy, and floral hops come through next. The dark fruits of plum, fig, and raisin follow suit. The brew is finished off by the sweet biscuity malts and earthy yeast. The peat and smokiness from the scotch barrel dominate.
Mouthfeel - Medium to full bodied with light to moderate carbonation. Finishes smooth and chewy with the scotch barrel elements lingering.
Overall - A superb barrel aged wee heavy from the folks at Cabin. This one is definitely not for your average joe. If you like scotch then this one is definitely up your alley. Bold flavours make this one yet another dangerous sipper.
