Climb aboard as we continue our expedition through the many spheres of the West Coast IPA style in search of the perfect iteration.
Troposphere was West Coaster that drank like an East Coast IPA, while Stratosphere was old school all the way. Mesosphere blends the two and plays off dank pine and citrus hop undertones with tropical fruit high notes that defy gravity as they float from the glass.
Mesosphere blends Columbus, Centennial, Strata and Amarillo hops for an out-of-this-world flavour explosion, while a simple, dry malt backbone stands up to the robust hop bitterness and aroma and provides perfect balance.
Sip, exhale and float on, friends.

Pours a translucent golden yellow with a solid two fingers of bubbly white head with creamy central cap.
Aroma starts with a piney hop burst with grapefruit peel and an earthy weedy note; as warmed a very appealing cotton candy berry smell comes out.
Tastes of the earthy and dank hops - pine, grapefruit - slightly resinous with a background cereal malt sweetness mixing with the hop bitters - a touch floral.
Solid medium pushing to full mouthfeel with bright carbonation - lingering piney and grapefruit peel bitterness.

Appearance - Pours a gold with three fingers of frothy white head.
Smell - citrus, piney, earthy, floral, and weedy hops, light pine resin, grapefruit and citrus peel, light tropical fruit notes (mango, papaya, guava, peach, and passionfruit), bready malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - citrus, piney, earthy, floral, and weedy hops upfront. The brew then goes into the light pine resin, and grapefruit peel which is very subtle. The citrus peel and tropical fruit notes (mango, papaya, guava, peach, and passionfruit) are more predominant in this one. The bready malts and earthy yeast round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the citrus and tropical hops and fruits lingering.
Overall - An IPA that delivers on the citrus and tropical fruit note front. I wish the pine resin was more pronounced in this as it would've been a more enjoyable brew. Nonetheless, an interesting venture by combining the two styles of IPAs.
