Life is a marathon, not a sprint. Sometimes you just have to relax, take a deep breath and enjoy what's going on around you.

Slow & Steady Wheat Wine is a beer to take your time with. Aromas slowly open up as it warms, offering notes of toffee, chocolate and plum. The warming flavours steadily develop as you sip, and the heavy wheat content (50%) gives it a full-bodied, creamy mouthfeel with flavours of toasted bread fig, dried fruit and toffee.
Definitely drink it now but make sure you cellar a few cans for later to compare with a version that is aging in barrels - slowly, steadily – until next winter.

Pretty pour, love the sticky lace atop a murky golden amber color. Wheatwine is a style that is more miss than hit for me but this one works. The alcohol is well hidden and the sweetness, while plentiful, has enough layering and nuance to keep things interesting. Golden raisins, brown sugar, honey, lightly charred caramel, and a hint of something earthy/nutty that I can't describe better. Thanks Tim, I'm diggin' this one!

Canned May 2022. Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a nice opaque light brown with off-white head. The nose is full of toffee, dark bread, and a strong nutty note. White chocolate. A bit of wheat and raisins. Really interesting and definitely makes me want to take a sip!

The taste largely follows the nose. The nuttiness really comes through here. Walnuts and almonds mostly. Caramel, honey, bitter citrus peel, wheat, brown sugar, and a bit of chocolate. Very smooth with a nice marriage between bitter and sweet.

Mouthfeel is fairly light and the alcohol is pretty silent on the taste.

Appearance - Pours a dark brown with a finger of bubbly white head.

Smell - light floral and earthy hops, bready and wheaty malts, honey, caramel, dark fruits (plum, fig), and earthy yeast.

Taste - light floral and earthy hops upfront. The bready and wheaty malts come through next. The honey and caramel add a nice one two punch to this brew. The dark fruits (plum, and fig) and earthy yeast round out the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate to full carbonation. Finishes smooth and creamy with the alcohol warmth lingering.

Overall - A brew that displays elements of the style but does not follow the appearance guidelines of the style. I think Cabin needs to continue to practice brewing different styles of beer to get better at it. Otherwise, a solid attempt at the wheatwine style.
