Unfortunate how rare it seems to find single bottle local releases now. Happy to see Cabin keeping it real. Worthy of a written review.
L: jet black, no head as expected for a big boy barrel aged porter
S : mellow roasty aroma, sweet maraschino cherry notes, mildest hint of maple
T: starts with a lightest hint of high test alcohol, quickly dissipates to dark semi sweet chocolate, dark roasted maltiness, vanilla, and like the nose just the faintest hint of maple syrup lingers late
F: like buttah, the malty smooth porter feel masks any suggestion that this is high test
O: Fully impressed, in a world where lots of quality brewers are pumping our 4 pack tall cans of good beers, this is a a breath of thick sweet fresh air for that any real beer dork will savor!

A Tannic Lager made like a porter, tastes like a porter, but a bit more refreshing. Hint of sweetness from the maple syrup barrels without sacrificing the "dry" feeling you'd get from barrel and malt tannins. For best experience, I recommend letting it sit for 10-15 minutes after removing from the fridge. You'll want it cold, of course, but not too cold. An excellent choice to cut through the fat of greasier dishes such as steak or fried chicken.

Single 500 ml bottle with waxed cap - split two ways.
Pours a cola brown with scant reddish brown rim of head.
Nose of vanilla, caramel, bourbon, and maple syrup - brown sugar and notes of raisins and figs.
Sweet with flavours of toffee, maple, vanilla and bourbon - again hits of raisins, a touch of cocoa with a soft roasty bitterness at the end.
Medium mouthfeel - lighter than expected - with decent carbonation and a lingering maple raisin sweetness.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a very dark brown - almost black. No head. The nose is maple, toffee, milk chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow, and slight cinnamon candy.

The taste is really nice. Caramel candy, coffee grounds, maple syrup, Belgian chocolate, vanilla, and nicely roasted malts. A really lovely and smooth beer.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice toffee/maple aftertaste. This is a really nice beer. Not overly sweet at all, which sometimes happens with maple barrel beers. Would definitely buy again.
