To mark our fifth anniversary, we are proud to release a new instalment in our annual Chapter series of barrel-aged beers. For Chapter 5 we’ve aged our fruity and fun Bright & Early Belgian Golden Strong Ale in a mix of apple brandy and pinot grigio barrels.
It’s fruit forward with big vinous white wine notes and complex pomme fruit esters. Balancing that tantalizing fruitiness is a full-bodied Belgian ale, which plays beautifully with moderate oak character from the barrels. Drink it now, but be sure to put at least one down to enjoy later – these beers are made to taste even better after a year or two!

Picked up a 750 ml waxed bottle from the Co-op Kensington store cold beer room on 7-11-25 for $22.99 CAD. This is the 5th Anniversary brew for Cabin released around 12-1-23 (per Untappd ratings). Reviewed 7-13-25.
Beer poured dark gold with a very nice white head that has some hang time.
Nose gives me a light touch of pear and not much else.
Taste is fantastic as the base beer characteristics mimics the cousins from across the pond. Between the yeast esters and the brandy and wine barrels, a ton of pear and apple is imparted. Pear brandy liqueur comes thru nicely in the post sip aspirations and keeps the sweetness well balanced.
Mouthfeel is super as this large beer is so very light bodied with each sip dancing its way across the palate.
Overall, what a gem! Such a nice change from the typical stout and Barleywine BA brews, glad i took a chance!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
