Tap pour at the tap room. Served chilled in a smaller tulip glass.
Dark brown colored body. Light tan head, and this turns into an island and ring. Leaves behind rings and spots all around the glass.
Aroma of roasted malts shrouded in smoke and some earthy hops.
Taste certainly has some piney and earthy hops but the dominant flavor is smoked malts that exude char and an ending bit of coffee. Minor bitterness and a tiny sweet note. Long lingering aftertaste.
More than medium mouth feel, with a silky texture. Coats the mouth. Good carbonation.
Smoky without getting too bitter. Quite mellow.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed it here before now.
Dark pouring with some amber hues shining through the glass. Tan head with some lacing.
Smoked malt aroma.
Taste has a malty caramel to start it out. The caramel turns to a very pleasing smoke flavor that continues throughout the rest of the beer. Smoky, bonfire, but also a hint of sweetness in the smoke.
Smooth full body, and the smoke feeling lingers in my throat.
I love this beer. It is a delicious smoked beer.

Received from VictorySaber1977 for NBW BIF #16.
24 oz crowler.
Poured coffee dark brown with an amazing head that made me stop pouring into my liter mug.
When I finally got it poured, the aroma was mild for me (damaged nose) but smoky malts were evident, or my imagination provided that.
The taste- good porter, a touch of barbecue flavor which gives it a little complexity but that is about it.
The feel, well a bit thin but it’s a porter so can’t complain.
I must have really enjoyed it as I finished it before finishing my dinner. Very easy quaffing. Thanks James!
