a pink boots thing with snake river, melvin, and roadhouse apparently, all breweries that know their way around the hoppy stuff, a cool west coast style pils that hits much like an india pale lager, i do think we need the style distinction here on BA though. this is clear and light, really tidy and simple on the grain side, the perfect clarity and very radiant light yellow color are gorgeous for summer, lasting medium height white head on this, racing bubbles, lots and lots of room for lots and lots of hops to run around, fresh to me, not overly bitter for being as hoppy as it is, well constructed. the nose is hop forward, a little catty thing going on, a mosaic element here seems likely, pineapple juice, green melon, dried grass clippings, mild pils malt but with some minerality, and a real subtle ferment, nobody is going to confuse this for being european, but its a nice vehicle for the selected hops, and that is true in the flavor of course as well, where it exhibits fruity and spicy moments but stays light and drinkable, a hint of lemongrass, maybe jasmine, summery all the way, white wine, on the dry side later, brisk carbonation really moves it quick, and the attention to detail stands out, the water chemistry is excellent, nothing is overengineered, its clean and unfussy, and i could drink ten of them. stillwest doesnt get love outside of their immediate home base, but i think their beer is relevant in a wider region, they do a really nice job with a lot of stuff, and ive been stoked on much of it. this is a nice effort in a happening style space right now...
