real nice coconut vanilla porter here, not too heavy or sweet, summery actually with how forward and genuine the coconut is, house toasted apparently, and well in front of the vanilla which is where it belongs in this i reckon, very well made beer, as they tend to be from these guys, nice to have a few of theirs recently! dark brown but not black, some shine to this and a compact tan head, looks well refined and about like it should. the nose is awesome, the coconut is natural, obviously toasted, sexy and bold but not overdone, nice with the coffee nuance the roasted barley brings, and nice with the vanilla too, which is also natural and high end to my nose, dark cocoa and light smoke character, not overly rich on the grain side which is pleasant, the extras and the roast are plenty, clean ferment, the coconut is so compelling. the flavor is great too, its all very well integrated where things flash in and out in different moments and the base porter is excellent, while also not being lost to the coconut, front and center as it is. dark chocolate, earthy roast, good espresso, whole bean vanilla, and that super gooey sweet cooked coconut, just lovely. medium bodied is all with enough carbonation for it to not stagnate, drier than a lot in this range, impressive on a number of levels but the authenticity of the coconut is chief among them. really good stuff here.
