We’ve spliced the best of an ultra-sessionable pale ale with grapefruit undertones allowing the zesty flavours to slice through every sip.

I once had a delicious Splice IPA from Moondog in Melbourne, which tasted just like a Splice Icecream. Judging from this beer, this is going to be a similar beer. Stockade Brewing is a brand from Tribe Breweries in Goulburn, New South Wales. A brewery that is often outsourced by Pinnacle Drinks to make faux craft beers for the likes of BWS and Dan Murphys. But I'll remain optimistic.
This was gifted to me by in in laws as a '23 Xmas present.
Vessel: 375 ml can. Best before 25/11/2023n so it's a month and and a bit out of date.
Appearance: Lovely hazy golden Appearance, was a thin 1cm head that sadly disappeared too quickly. That aside, it does look lovely.
Aroma: Strong, juicy and acidic grapefruit smell. Strong citrus aroma, lemon and lime. Slight underlining of a sweet vanilla note.
Flavour: Like a refreshing glass of fruit juice, dominated with grapefruit, melon, and citrus notes. No sweet vanilla notes. But a gentle tone of malt. Unfortunately it's quite watery however.
Feel: It's thin, moderately carbonated, but quite watery. Refreshing for a hot summers day, but it does come across like a flavoured mineral water. A bit more body would help immensely.
Overall: It's refreshing and flavourful. But it's too thin and watery in my opinion. A great sessionable beer in a hot tropical climate, but falls short of being anything outstanding.

From the Boozebud Advent Calendar 2022 day 16, drunk in May 2023.
L: In the glass, it's a bright, almost artificial-looking yellow, with medium haze, a thin white rim of head and no carbonation evident in the glass.
S: Aroma is zesty, creamed soda and ice-cream.
T: Taste is like an ice-cream float (we call that a Spider in Oz), with a sweet, creamy note followed by a zesty, almost sherbety light grapefruit but without any of the bitter dank pith. If I didn't know it was beer I'd think it was a soft drink/soda.
M: Carbonic prickle is medium-high, but the zesty/sherbety taste demands immediate follow-up and further reinforces the perception that this is a soft drink/soda rather than a beer.
O: This is nice, and definitely refreshing and moreish, but as I keep noting, it has soft drink vibes, and I doubt I'd go back for a second if given the choice of something else to drink.
Cheers!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
