Pretentious Beer Co.

I don’t review beer or breweries all that much anymore, but one of this caliber needs some praise.

As we first walked in the small location felt a little like a dive bar. It had seating for approximately 25 to 30 people and that would be tight. The place was clean and well presented though. We were instantly greeted by the charming young eclectic bartender with purple hair. I didn’t get her name but she was a joy to be around. She knew her beer very well as well. We sampled 5 different beers this day. Everything from a New England style IPA called new kids on the floc, to a barrel aged sour stout called Make it Funky. All the beers we tried were to style and of exceptional quality and flavor. Of the 11 breweries we visited in our beer weekend this was by far our favorite.

There is no food available at this brewery, however there are many options very close by within walking distance. We will definitely be back to visit the growing Knoxville brewing scene very soon.

 

A brewery that lives up to its name. Hipster-ish store front tasting room with short bar that seats 10, and back patio seating. Adjacent to artisan glassblowing studio... For a mere $65 they will blow you a beer glass.... not my idea of a happy ending, but apparently there is a market. (I'm sure I would love the warmth on a winter day here.) The beer is very good, 16 on tap; one crutch bartender, this place is fun. Parking is a b..ch unless you're in the know... then it's free. The beer is very good.
