Can to glass mug.
The appearance had a yellow translucent color. Fast carbonation bubbles were seen rising to the top to scatter out at a fairly quick pace. Barely any lace.
The aroma had some soft sweet biscuits with lemony tones. Subtle corn and an even lighter grassy hop tone underneath.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side through some corn, grass, biscuits and a touch of boozey toastiness.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Light carbonation. Mostly smooth and finishes semi-crisp with corn, toast, quaint boozey sticky malts.
Overall, as a kellerbier, I'd say it falls a bit short but if treated as an American lager, it's not bad. Maybe again.

Hopefully this is better than the Brown Owl I had from them, canned 1/10/20
Pours a med-larger foamy fizzy head with med retention, it would be low retention but it is reinforced with streaming bubbles, little lacing, mostly clear, slight hazed medium gold color
Nose brings doughy grainy straw malt, a little bread dough, light fruity esters, some pilsner malt notes and faint corn DMS (which is OK), very faint hop note
Taste brings more grainy malts out front, again that pilsner straw malt character and a touch of corn DMS (again OK for the style), a little creamy doughy like almost wheat character to it but not quite wheat, light floral herbal hops and light bitterness, touch of fruity esters, finishes with a touch of a skunky like character that either could be due to the youngness of the beer (OK for kellerbier) or maybe hop residue which is not OK. That skunky flavor is a little out of place and gives it a macro lager feel, as well as a touch of a metallic note late, drier finish with lingering mild bitterness and a bit more of that metallic note and skunk note
Mouth is med to a bit lighter bod, but a little soft wheat-like character typical in Kellerbier, higher prickly tingly carb which is annoying and out of character for a beer style that is historically drank right from the tank
Overall it's not bad, but def could do without that skunky and metallic notes on the finish, but otherwise much better than the last beer I had from them

An average pour yielded a finger of pure white foam with long retention and sliding arches of lace. Hazy yellow straw color, very hazy almost cloudy with the dregs added in.
Strong smell of yeasty rising bread dough with crackery malt and faint floral hops. Some toasted wheat and multigrain bread in the background.
Neutral on sweetness and low on bitterness, items from the smell are repeated with added apple cider and
a light spice blend of clove, allspice and pepper. The finish is quick and clean, the yeast prevents it from being crisp.
Not much of a aftertaste, just yeast and the spice.
Medium light body, evenly carbonated and smooth. Session-able, alcohol is well hidden. Canned on 1/20/20.

Poured into a Shotoku glass from Japan. A nice 1” of head that quickly dissipated leaving some lacing. Clean, clear and a light body. Flavor is wonderful. Taste consists of some lemon that lingers on the palate. Overall an outstanding pilsner.

01/10/20 "Akon N Young Pilsner"
Opened and reviewed on : 1/29/20
Poured into a "Polish Pilsner" glass
A totally clear golden color that has the shimmer of s wheat field in August.
A fine white cap hovers relentlessly. Dips down eventually to a thin, scattered foam cover.
Funky wheat and golden roasted grains smell upfront, very classicly malty, Sour bread 'n honey soaked Pilsner style yeasties and all the herbal and grassy hop whiffs you'd care to inhale.
A light and mildly crispy first hit until the malt rides in slick, medium bodied and round. A gentle spicy wheat and "sweet n sour" yeast edge all starts to meld together to form what we know as Kellerbier. Herbal, crisp malt and then a bit long and slick after a bit.
Not at all bad for an American crafty style stab at this classic German style.
Be sure to pour this one into the proper Pilsner style glass for full effect.

Saw some 16 oz.cans at the Nashua Beer Shop and picked up one to give it a try. My first experience with a Northwoods product and it was a very satisfactory one. Fine version of a Kellerbier that made me wish I had picked up more than the one can. I'll be looking for it again on future visits to the store.
