Finally made a stop in here when it became clear that the Metra wasn't gonna be cooperative with its schedule. Fair enough, I guess. Place is on a corner unit a block away from the main intersection downtown, old brick building with likely plenty of memories held within. Inside is a wood-paneled space bedecked with breweriana, long-ish tables on the left, bathrooms, some board games and the bar on the right; some patio space is included, as well. Range on offer at the time wasn't too extensive, with maybe seven or so house beers, a few guests, and a handful of taps off; they also had some non-alcoholic offerings and some minor snacks (the same you see pretty much everywhere these days). That being said, the variety was pretty nice to see, with a scotch ale, a barrel-aged stout, a couple pilsners, some IPA family members, and a wheat. Better variety than I've seen elsewhere, sadly. The beers are mostly pretty solid, though nothing to write home about; no glaring issues, no laziness, just solid-enough stuff. The staff are all pretty chill, rather nice, and willing to chat about the beers. Pricing is standard for the area. Overall, not a bad spot, especially for the McHenry area, though I'm not entirely sure it warrants trips from too far out. Things may get to that point, but not quite yet. Still, I could easily see chilling with some buds and suds here certain weekends, indeed.
