Hel 23/7 2019. 50 cl can on the Ferry from Hel to Gdańsk. Big anchor on the can to ensure that I understand that the beer is named after that Neptune guy. The version I am drinking has an ABV og 5,6. They call it a “Baltic Lager”.
Pours clear, golden yellow with a medium-sized white head. Settles as thin layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is lightly sweet with a touch of light pale malts. Sharp, sourish, harsh notes. Hints of alcohol despite the modest ABV.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is lightly sweet followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and a bit harsh with a moderate booziness to it.
Not as sweet as many Polish pale lagers. But a bit harsh. It might be the way of the “Baltic Lager”.

Browar Amber “Neptun”
44 cl can
Look: Slightly hazy and golden in color beneath a short head of white foam. Limited head retention and lacing.
Smell: Aroma of adjunct malt backed by a smear of “generic” hop character.
Taste: The flavor follows the aroma with some additional apple-like fruitiness. A median bitterness balances it and it finishes dry.
Feel: Medium bodied and crisp.
Overall: Neptun is a basic, economy, Euro lager.
