this is downright amazing beer, my first every from these guys after hearing a ton of hype, cool can, superior liquid, especially in a style that tends to be samey and forced. raspberry, passion fruit, marshmallows, vanilla, obligatory lactose, i dont even really like this sort of thing, but its hard not to be impressed here. the color is gorgeous, deep saturated almost rose red, maybe a little more pink than that, but beautiful in the glass, even with the fish food sediment we rouse in the bottom of the can. it smells bright and tangy, mouthwateringly tart, not too sweet. the raspberry and passion fruit together are amazing, they both hit a high summer vibe, but also have some acidity of their own, quite compatible, and a ripe natural juicy complexion as well, really good. there isnt too much lactose on this, its only sweet in the middle, and it adds some body where the lactic acidity might break it down some. the marshmallow seems almost superfluous to me, i guess it makes it a little desserty and sort of accents the fruit, but its still fruit first here. the sour part is right on, the ferment is complete and agreeable, the body is fuller for the style and perhaps wheat derived, everything comes together exceedingly well. the flavor of this is really unique, and the quality overall is undeniable. way way way ahead of the curve for these trendy fruited kettle sours, super impressed!
edit: even a whole bunch of months later this is still great. such natural raspberry, a whole heap of vanilla bean, it just doesnt seem to have faded at all, and even the gloopy sediment at the bottom of the can tastes great. this seems way more stable than most of these, they really do have this dialed in. i am keen to try more of their stuff now!
