Outstandingly balanced and not too hoppy. The mouth feel is juicy and luscious. This is an easy buy, buy, buy again.

pours muted orange with thick white head, great lacing and a veiled cap.

Aroma is pineapple forward with citrus and earthy notes. Not real sweet, and no alcohol tatse

Taste is pineapple dankness and citrus rind hints of tangerine. has a kind of grassy earthy note to it

Mouthfeel is full and hits all the senses, rind bite up front slightly prickly middle, creamy texture to a sticky to dry finish

Overall its a nice representation of a New England DIPA. tasty and full feeling sticky and slightly astringent , well balanced layers of flavor and feel. Good beer.

Now that's a hop lineup... I'm really excited to give this one a sip. As I mentioned in a review earlier tonight, Tripping Animals has really impressed me over the past few months with their unique IPA recipes that have generally featured some really inspired hop combinations. This one utilizes a rather intense combo of all-star varietals: Citra, Cashmere, Motueka, Mosaic, and Nelson... yowza! Hopefully this brings the heat, because it's really looking like it might be great.

The pour is a moderate orange color with a head of bone-white foam measuring a finger-and-a-half that recedes rather quickly to a single finger that leaves behind excellent legs and lace. The body is hazy and well-structured with some sunburst tones if held up to direct light, meaning it's not grossly-opaque or overly-yeasty.

Getting a lot of ripe nectarine, mango, earthy dankness, and intense tangerine in this one right off the bat, which I must say I did not really expect from this hop combination. In all honesty, though, this seems like one of the most "competitive" combos of hops I've seen in a beer recently, so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised. I'm mostly getting Cashmere and Citra here, funnily enough, with really nice and evocative elements of coconut, orange, esters, and intense grapefruit coming out as it acclimates to being in my glass. Although this might not be the most cohesive use of all of these hops (not really something I figured would happen though... I mean, seriously, how do you get all of these to play nice together?), it does seem to at least be something approaching an enjoyable beer. When you get down to the nitty-gritty, that's what matters, right?

Flavor profile has some elements of tangerine and ripe melon with hints of apricot, earthy/savory elements, piney funk, dankness, mineral-forward white wine, passion fruit, and blueberry. It's a lot, honestly. And to be sure, it's really not the most coherent or logical thing I've had lately, but it's tasty and solid all the same. Sure, the body is a little heavy and overly-dense, but the flavors here are really pushing the envelope, bringing out a bevy of oddly-dark fruit elements that really sit surprisingly-well in the mix. I get these weird suggestions of plum or something that meld well with some of the Motueka-driven spice; it's just odd and honestly kind of cool. Definitely unlike a lot of what I've had lately. Feel is heavy and a bit dense/strong but I really dig it. CoW treads its own path, and Tripping Animals continues to impress.
