Notes. Had at Controlled Chaos festival @ Burly Oak / Nov 2022
First…I don’t often find Kettle Sour brews I really like. Next, rarely find “ everything but kitchen sink” experiments really worth having again.
But I enjoyed this crazy mix of fruits, sweets, nuts and lactose tossed in the Brett kettle which surprisingly showed up as a nice Berliner Weisse. Thumbs up.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Completely opaque pink/peach colored pour. Sediment and sludge... big foamy white head leaves great lacing. Not as ugly as some of their other brews.
S: Sweet/tart. Guava, vanilla, and lime. Fruity milkshake.
T.F: Just like it smells. Sweet and tart mixed together. Loads of fruit. Guava and lime stand out. Honey and melon... a bit of amoretto. Super creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied... complex... kind of like a tart dessert.
O: An outstandingly weird beer. Great flavors... that don't seem like they'd mesh all that well but actually really work. Their fruited sours are top drawer, and one to snag if you find it.

a stronger berliner type base, done with guava, lime, honey, almond, and lactose. super weird but super good, just wondering who was like, oh yeah lets put almond and guava in a sour, like such a strange thought, like those things dont exist together in food really, or in nature, a curious mix of things, but its oddly successful, and even though i have now had only two, i get the sense these guys do this sort of thing awfully well. super pale, thick, and washed out pink from the can, lots of sediment at the bottom, a ton of viscosity, a frothing and lasting white head. the nose here is nice too, lime out in front but the amaretto thing is evident from the almond, and the sweetness of the lactose brings out the honey as well, floral and springy and neat. guava is neatly distinct in nose and taste too, remarkably identifiable, more than is common i feel like, and the sourness of this is only moderate, clean for what it is and offset by the honey. i think the almond element must add some body, this is very full, past wheaty to kind of creamy or thick, but its not unappealing with the carbonation. lime adds some acid too, weird to have the almond as evident as it is but then also the pucker, but it works. i like how much each ingredient can be appreciated, but also how cohesive this is, pretty impressive. not an easy drinker by any means, one and done even if the abv were lower, but a cool drinking experience to say the least, and i well be on the hunt for more from these guys!
