Pours black with a little leakage to cola brown on the edges and sports a very minimal dark tan head. The nose some oaky barrel notes, a bit of vanilla, a heaping helping of cacao, and a subtle hint of the Chile’s and cinnamon.
The cinnamon and especially the chiles are anything but subtle on the taste, with the cinnamon providing a baseline for “spicy” and the chiles obliterating the baseline - this has some heat (and I love heat in a beer), but before it crushes you with the spice and the heat, the beer allows the cacao and vanilla to provide balance so you’re not reaching for a garden hose to tamp down the fire. Wow, is this delicious, especially if you like some heat in your big, brawny stout.
The mouthfeel is full and creamy, a perfect fit for this beer. I dislike comparing beers, but this is Xocoveza (and I absolutely LOVE Xocoveza) on PED’s. World class stuff, IMHO.
