This is a collaboration with Dream State Brewing Co., but Tripping Animals is listed on the pint can as the actual brewer. It's described as a fruit smoothie desert beer, not an available category here, so fruited kettle sour it is. The contents of the can rest comfortably inside a clear glass liter mug. There's a reddish violet head that's modest and enduring. The brew is an opaque purple- mauve that just looks thick. The cherry/berry aroma is pronounced and some grain and vanilla can be had. It drinks more thinly than it looks, but it's still has a rich body. The taste is almost equal parts cherry and blueberry, with maybe a little vanilla and almost no inclusion of the Graham cracker listed. Maybe not truly sour, there is enough tartness for mouth puckering. The finish is a little sticky so there may be some unlisted lactose included, or it could just be a thick puree result. Overall, it's far from sweet, so those that loath the desert beer fad may actually like this. However, it is fruity in a berry and cherry way. There's no citrus bite and the tartness is more than would be expected from its two flavor makers. Perhaps a little too much to be considered refreshing, this is a very enjoyable taste trip that won't disappoint those that like its style and flavors.
