Grabbed a single at Hair of the Dog. (3/2025) Beer was in frig unit, but dated 6/2024. Yikes.
But I enjoy Tripping Animals, impressed with Brujos… and do love big TDH DIPA. So took a chance.
Interestingly it matches pretty closely with previous reviews.
I thought it an attractive pour. Started hazy but soon became clearer/non-hazy soft gold on a pillowy white head with excellent lacing and residual surface foam and halo. Definitely can conditioned as some floaters filled body. But no fault…old beer and I did an aggressive pour. Overall a very attractive brew. Not much in the way of nose, but some aroma of dried fruit and biscuit… and via a 72 yo nose. lol.
Expected taste to be a bit bold maybe dry too. Riwaka, Strata and Nelson can each be a hard and brash. Citra can soften and bring some soft fruit. Also expected dank that might have pushed it over the edge when TDH’d.
Instead it was a bit grassy, grainy, rye bready with melon and some soft citrusy lime. Bery modest dank. Interestingly different, pleasant and actually pretty nicely complex and rounded. Enjoyed. Viva La Difference!
Body was soft but still had a bit of bright carbonation that didn’t promote the beer. Instead kinda made beer a bit unnecessary harsh on tip of tongue.
Overall an interesting concoction that seemed like the brewers were more playing/ experimenting vs attempting to compose a more predictable winner. Kudos for effort! But a one off for me.

6 oz draft pour at Lures Bar & Grille. Pours a hazy yellow color with a medium head. Aroma and flavor offer tropical fruit, citrus rind, sweet malt, and some astringency. Mouthfeel is a bit sharp - not pillowy. Overall a decent DNEIPA but nothing special IMO.
