On draught.
A pitch black pour, surprisingly low head retention and lacing.
The Alcohol booziness and bitterness are both well masked by the sweetness.
Somewhat cloying, heavily caramelized malt, with vanilla, nutty, hints of whiskey from the barrel aging. Hints of honey, and perhaps a little licorice are present.
Interesting mouthfeel on this one, almost like you can detect substance suspended in the brew, and a certain level of viscosity. This brew is rich, smooth, somewhat complex, and slightly tangy on the finish.
A good dessert beer, you could pour a couple shots of this over vanilla ice cream and serve it in a fine restaurant.
Probably one of the most expensive beers I’ve ever had in a bar, actually ordered by my wife. As I recall it was $16 for a snifter.
Considering a 750ml bottle of Wiilett Rye Whiskey can go between $250-$900 depending on which age/variety your in the market for, I imagine most of the cost was for the coveted Willett Rye barrels.
A decedent brew to say the least.
