8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square - still haven't found the gumption to visit these guys way out in the west end of the city.
This beer appears a hazy, pale golden straw colour, with a thin cap of wispy and bubbly eggshell white head, which leaves a low berm of lace around the glass as things slowly progress.
It smells of gritty and grainy cereal malt, earthy coriander spice, muddled domestic citrus rind, a hint of black peppercorn, and some plain leafy, herbal, and soapy floral hop bitters. The taste is bready and crackery pale malt, a lesser grainy wheatiness, orange and lemon citrus peel, estery coriander, and more understated earthy, musty, and dead floral hoppiness.
The carbonation is adequate in its palate-assuring frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and mostly smooth, but for a suggestion of pithiness arising as things warm up a tad around here. It finishes trending dry, the spice exhibiting the most lingering chutzpah.
Overall - while this comes across as a lighter version of the style, it is still well-made. Gotta break up the IPAs with something, eh?
