Bald Birds Brewing Co. "Ax Battler"
on tap at the brewery on 20 April 2019
Notes: "It's been a few months since we pitched the yeast grown up with Roboturner (our first Brett ale) into this slightly larger, funk ridden golden ale. With more attention to temp manipulation and a hop bill to compliment, this farmhouse came out with a sharp sweet-tart candy nose and deep notes of dried apricots, with a slight acidity to balance the scales. Long story short, we're pretty stoked on this one." Clear straw gold body beneath a good-sized head of bright white foam. The head retention is good and the lacing is better. The aroma displays malt, sugar, funk, grassiness, fruit, and clove. The flavor follows with a median bitterness that leaves some sweet malt in the finish but it quickly dries. It lingers, grassy and herbal with a touch of lemon.
