Dull black with brown edges and a creamy collar dying off to a thin tan ring.
Chocolatey at first, a barrel char that resembles mocha comes in after, and then I actually taste toasted black walnut for days in the exhale. Wow! I don't usually detect actual walnut flavor in most beers professing to add it--it's usually a nondescript, maybe slightly savory or nutty quality in the background--but here it's really present, at least fresh out the gate.
The slick medium-light body has a crackly carbonation and finishes with a chewy to powdery dryness. It's not hot but there's a nice little peppery spice in the aftertaste.
