BBD: 06.2017 New deli tick.
Pours with a finger of khaki foam, thin collar of lace.
Ruby chestnut glint in the light.

Fairly dry aroma, some unfinished wort and nutty malt presence. Taste is similar, nutty toasted malt and barely any black malt flavor. Medium bodied, slightly sweet, plum and clove elements if you really stretch things. Molasses. Overall this wasn't terrible and was finishable, which is more than I can say for Krajan Ciemne.

This was a 330 ml bottle (best by 26.02.2009) tasted on 05.01.09 (Jan). Listed as 9% ABV.

It poured a dark ruby brew with a cream coloured head of about 1cm. No haze detected, though it was very dense in tone. The smell was of used coffee grounds, roasted malt and was slightly vegetal.

The taste and mouthfeel made for a very satisfying drink. Right away it surprised me with how drinkable it was. It had a silky smooth mouthfeel and was somewhat sweet with coffee in the aftertaste. It was very hard to believe this was a 9% brew, the alcohol was barely detectable.

The head disappeared towards the end, but this was an excellent porter.

Thanks to robbeer for bringing this out all the way to Japan.
A - Jet black with thin brown head.
S - pleasant licorice aroma.
T - Deep rich licorice and malt.
M - Heavy with fine carbonation. Amazing integration with the alcohol, I couldnt believe it was this high.
D - amazingly easy drinking.

Colour looked initially quite light, I'd coin the term 'hot brown' but would settle somehow into the standard, muddy brown appearance. Little head. Aroma certainly in check - good! A great deal of that distinct Baltic chocolaty, tary, brandy like aroma. A light roastness with some alcohol present (only a little). A warm finish but no lasting aftertaste; no resonance. All the right parts but they just don't come together so well - or stay there as long as they should. I could use a little more of everything this beer has. I mean, smell is there - but turn it up! Flavour is there - but it leaves the mouth too quickly. No depth really, or pronounced roastness, a funny water too maybe? As it warmed it developed a weird cocoa like flavour. This one wasn't great but still tasty.
