Having this beer on tap at the brewery. Served in a snifter glass, this beer draws a very dark, almost black color with a dark tan, creamy looking head that’s about half an inch thick when first drawn and served. Head eventually settles do a thin ring letting the inside of the glass at the beers and surface along with some decent lacing. Aromas of roasted malts and nice hints of chocolate and coffee followed by an earthy hop note. Has a very similar flavor profile, with the aforementioned roasted malts with some dark chocolate bitter sweetness, a bit more bitterness from black coffee notes, and earthy hops that round it out quite nicely indeed. A well balanced flavor profile here. Has a smooth, also slightly gritty inch of slightly oily, medium to full body mouth feels with light to moderate carbonation. All of the flavors linger nicely on my palate long after each sip in the aftertaste. A very nice representation of this beer style.
