Poured from 500-ml bottle into a tulip glass. Deep brown in color, with a tan head. Decent retention, minimal lacing. This is overpoweringly sweet for a Baltic porter. Big flavors of blackstrap molasses and licorice, with notes of roasted malt that fade into the background. Not recommending this one.

Super sweet porter, near black with small, creamy beige head. Molasses and dried fruit dominate the aroma and palate. Slick, creamy mouthfeel. Slight metallic finish. sweetness overpowers any malt in this beer.

A sweet malty beer with an attractive dark color and robust flavor. Enjoyable but not as complex as the better examples of the style, for example Zywiec Porter. Best drunk fairly warm, as it is not a thirst quencher but more of a beer that goes better with cool weather. If you prefer drier beers, this will probably not be for you as it is very sweet. As another reviewer said, the food choice would be insulin :)

$1.79 from Rich's, BBD: 28.07.13. Imported by J&B Brands.

A new Baltic Porter from the makers of the revered Staropolskie Porter, hopefully it can live up to it's predecessor...

Dark mahogany brown, obsidian black in the glass, some clarity visible as its poured. A generous head of tan foam, remaining unbroken for quite awhile. Seems impressive considering the abv.

Raisin, fig, and carob notes in the nose as it warms up. Initially somewhat closed, needs to warm a bit definitely.

Tastes a bit molasses sweet, with raisin, plum, and prune fruitiness up front, some mild dry roast in the middle and aftertaste. A stray metallic note puts a slight damper on things but luckily it's in the background. Full bodied, creamy, and sweet. A little bit sticky on the lips, slightly syrupy or treacly. Overall I enjoyed it, but it's one you have to be in the mood for something sweeter.
