Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a half finger brown head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, lactose, cocoa and a touch of coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, coffee, milk chocolate and light coffee; coffee and cream finish with some lingering light malt char. Medium bodied with light creaminess and active carbonation. A very pleasant milk stout with good balance in the chocolate, lactose and coffee flavors. Great lingering flavors from the toasted malt and light lactose, the long aftertaste is probably the best part of the flavor profile. A little overcarbonated, which detracts a bit from the creaminess of this style, but overall very well done. Good introduction to this new-to-me brewery.
