Tragbier is a 4.4% rustic light lager brewed with modern European malts and a bouquet of Polish noble hops to highlight herbal, spicy and bright flavor notes. The name Tragbier is a cute story: Poland's very first king, Bolestaw the Brave, ruled in the 10th century, did some pretty great stuff, and built relationships with neighboring countries who quickly learned one thing about him: he loved good beer! The Germans nicknamed him Tragbier, loosely translating to Beer Lover.

true confession, i drink this right from the can outside of a concert venue, so have little to say about its appearance, but its a well branded beer, looks timeless and old school, what you expect from iconic type lager, and the beer in the can is solid, cleaner than some others from these guys, definitely easy drinking, part of this polish series which seems awesome, but less strikingly distinctive from other simple pale lagers than the radegast is, which i had recently in a more decorative can. this one feels quite blue collar to me, not insanely fresh on the grain side but also not crazy obviously european, although this could be built with imported barley, its earthy, off dry, and slightly crackery. pleasant foundation in aroma and flavor, no real oxidation but also its not brimming with newness either, minerality stopping short of any metallics, but almost kind of enriched to me. this could be done with polish hops too, although i find it somewhat subtle. some late bitterness thats a little more apparent as it warms, but balance is the name of the game here, subtle green lawn, pithy citrus, and herbal tea, not quite chamomile floral, greener than that, but all very mellow, nobody would call this hoppy beer. that water chemistry seems interesting, there is a little bit of body for what it is, but i like its texture a lot, the carbonation has a big bubble size and its very consistent even as this warms some. refreshing without being boring, only a little bit familiar, presents as very intentional and classic. solid.
