a polish lager with a gorgeous can, cool to have these guys selling beer in the idaho market now, picked up a few different ones for the weekend. this can felt tight and indeed it exploded when i opened it, gushing all over the countertop, but both my father and i enjoyed what we salvaged from the can, lost about a third of its contents i would say, maybe a little more, not ideal, but a nice beer anyway, distinct on the hop side without really being hoppy per se, these polish varietals are becoming more popular and i am into it, a nice grain base on this too, some body for a beer thats decidedly light overall, drinkable and subtle really, quite well lagered, good stuff. nice deep golden color to this, just off from perfect clarity but a pretty beer anyway, a good inch of white head on it, looks the part. aroma and flavor with a bright herbal hop presence, fresh to me, compatible with the obvious old world lager yeast, honeysuckle, dried lime, a touch vegetal but in an unappealing way, and then there is an almost graham cracker note to the malt, a touch sweet in the middle. a little bit long for being an easy lager, nice balance through, and its great to have some flavor from all the elements in a beer that stays really drinkable. a bit of copper-like minerality but its short of metallic, frothy feeling and very well carbonated, very mellow bitterness on the swallow, simple and a little rustic in an appealing and old worldy way. neat beer, cool to see the polish ingredients and lager variations coming around a bit more domestically...
