Serving: Growler
Filled: Jan-11-2019
A:
Pours a pretty clear brass color
with a skiff of off-white head. Little retention; little lacing. (3.5)
S:
Spicy hops, faint green apple and cerealy/grainy. (3.75)
T:
White bread, lemon zest, grass, white pepper. (4)
M:
Pretty thin body with anemic carbonation and a relatively dry finish. (3.75)
O:
It pours pretty nice, its age in the growler is immediately obvious with its lack of head compared to what I tried at the brewery. Luckily this is not the case in the rest of the beer. It is pretty straightforward all told. Aroma is of lightly skunky hops, and pale malts. The flavor has some meaty pale malt flavor as well as lemony and a peppery bit from the hops. It is nice and drinkable while still being substantive. A tasty, simple take on a style you don't see frequently in these parts. I'd have it again probably.
The main thing that I'd complain about is that it has fallen off a touch from being pre-filled. I knew that going in and it was actually less affected than it could have been. Also I understand why they have decided to package them this way. Nonetheless, it is noticeably better fresh (though it still was not bad). (3.75)
