Serving: Growler
Filled: Nov-26-2019 (Consumed: Nov-29)
A:
Pours hazy orange with a lasting finger+ of sticky white head. Some lacing. (4.25)
S:
Candied oranges, mango pulp, lemon zest, piney potpourri. (4.25)
T:
Resinous, green, hoppy sap with some highlights of tropical fruit and booze. (4)
M:
Fluffy-ish, light booze/yeast/"green" character, pretty active carbonation. (3.75)
O:
Nice beer.
This is an IIPA that hits both the fruity and the bitter facets. It pours nice enough out of a very fresh growler. Good head, nice bright orange color. The aroma is very tropical with an almost tart citrusy character and some sticky green hoppiness underneath. The flavor is less fruity and more resiny than expected. Nice contrast to the nose. I feel like it kind of has some yeast (or other) burn that takes away from it though. A nice drinking beer with a unique character. Solid overall. I have a sneaking suspicion that a few more days in the fridge might help mellow it a little and bump everything to 4.25. It's hard to decide though since on the one hand the beer is packaged in growlers, but on the other is literally as well-filled as possible. Regardless, it was good and I'd have it again. (4)
