From a bottle, 2022 release. I originally accidentally posted this review in the non BA version of the beer.
There's a bit of a hiss and a bit of slow rising smoke coming out of the bottle after opening. This is a thick looking pouring beer. Dark brown in color, with hints of amber in it. No light shines through the glass. The head that forms is 2 finger, tan, but doesn't last long at all, as expected. The head dissipates into a ring around the edge of the glass, with no lacing on the glass.
The nose is rich and deep with dark fruit notes. It also has a hint of leather. Faint hints of bourbon also shine through.
Taste - There's a good deal of dark fruit that comes off here. Lots of raisin and plum. An earthy and woody flavor also shines through. Some caramel and toffee also show up and a hint of bourbon as well.
The body is full. There's a bit of a burn that hits you, that is a bit of warming in my throat. There's a crisp and bubbly feeling in this beer also.
Overall a very tasty barleywine. I am happy with it.
