Notes: The name, King's Pine, is a play off the beers piney notes, with a nod to Bangor's logging history. In the mid 1700s, England claimed many of the areas large Pine Trees known as "King Pine's" as their own. Eventually, this became one of the catalysts for the Revolutionary War. While the King Pine's may have started a conflict in years past, this beer will bring people together. Bright orange in color with a slight haze, due it's unfiltered nature, while the aroma is blend of orange, tropical fruit and a hint of pine. First sip, you will experience big orange flavors, that carries throughout before the back of the palate gets hit with waves of tropical fruit that fades into piney notes. The low perceived bitterness to this beer, with loads of flavor from the late kettle and flavor additions create a flavorful American IPA without the big ABV that makes this beer an easy one to order more than once.

Crystal clear, golden copper color. Lasting frothy head with good blanketing lace (on a plastic cup).

Attractive floral hop cone aroma. Excellent caramel malt (perhaps crystal malt?) nose.

The taste isn't as smooth because the hop is more biting and bitter. The malt is present but dominated. It does provide a fuller body. The carbonation is as one would expect. Overall, a superior, if traditional, American IPA.

I tried this at the restaurant location near the Hollywood Hotel in downtown Bangor whilst there on vacation. The beer poured a clear golden with thin white head that left some lace. The scent had faint hints of pine. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with subtle sweetness to start then a bitter pine finish. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a decent beer.
