Goolman's Original Gold is an awful beer that really puts things in perspective. While staying in Poland I had the pleasure (and sometimes displeasure) of trying plenty of Euro Lagers. This one, however, really made some others seem MUCH better by comparison. The appearence is actually quite nice: a clear, chimney shaped bottle. The image of a liquere but still golden yellow like you'd expect. Aroma was none too pleasent, but luckilly quite weak. The taste is crackers (?) or bread (?) ... for those of us drinking it, it was quite a mystery as to what could possibly make this otherwise standard lager taste so bad. It's one of those that's SO bad, I recommend you try it! Really puts things in perspective...

From a clear bottle, purchased at Ace Supermarket, Brooklyn, NY. No freshness date that I could see.
Colour is pale gold, perfectly clear with a fluffy white head. Strong aroma, corny and a bit skunky - not a good start. Flavour is a fairly mild balance of malt and hops, better than I was expecting after the initial burst of aroma. The taste drops off quite swiftly, leaving little finish.
To sum up, this is quite meek and boring but better than a lot of stuff out there. Quite adequate for a summer refresher but don't sniff it first.
